Hi guys!

In a project, way back in the midst of time, I made use of the W3-JMAIL library to add some email functionality to a product. This worked great at the time, so I thought I would try and use it again in another product.

I have since discovered that any email addresses containing hyphens ('-') do not get sent, but there is no error reported (that I can tell), so I now can't use it. I have no idea where the problem lies either so am at a bit of a loss of what to do/use.

I looked at the W3-JMAIL website (Dimarc) but clicking through their site to download - hopefully - a newer version, reports a virus on the web site. The forum link also appears to be dead so I am assuming the company is not really there anymore?

Anyway, the question basically is has anyone ever used this product, had the same issue and resolved it? Or what other (free) solutions can I look at?

TIA

Regards
Neil

Hi Neil,

I'm afraid I've never heard of this product, so I can't answer your question.

But I suggest you take a look at Mike Gagnon's code in faq184-4969. I've used this for many years without any difficulties - and I'm certain that some of the recipients have hyphens in their addresses.

Mike

Neil,

Another thought. You could try changing each hyphen to [tt]%2D[/tt]. I doubt it would work, but it might be worth a quick test, as it could save you having to rewrite your code if it does work.

Hi

I just went to the web site an managed to download the .msi file - AVG doesn't report any virus...

I have put it here in a zip file (to avoid any autorun issues):

Wonderful! Thanks guys, plenty to look at there. :)

Thanks Griff for the download - I have grabbed it now if you need to delete it. I can't remember what virus it reported - it was Sophos enterprise at work, so maybe just a false positive. I just hope you haven't caught anything ;)
