Hi, I've got a new server to be built with W2K3 as a sole DC and E2K3 on the same server. I realise it's not the ideal situation but it's the way it has to be. I'm looking for advice on the best way to partition the server.

2x 72GB 10k (RAID 1+0) - for OS and E2K3
4x 146GB 10k (RAID 5) - for file storage

20GB OS and 52GB for E2K3 and apps??

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Certainly not the best solution. Exchange on a DC just ain't right.

Put the transaction logs on those 72GB drives, and the stores on the larger drives.

I wouldn't partition the RAID 1 array in to two separate drives, that just creates extra overhead. Leave it as a single partition.

If you do that, you'd better hope the transaction logs don't choke the OS when a backup fails or you move a bunch of mailboxes. Never put transaction logs on a system partition.
