I'm on site at a customer location and the w2k3 server is horribley slow. It takes 35 minutes to login to the network, selecting properties it will take 3-5 minutes to display properties. I believe it is something to do with spanning the WAN to get security rights. When I was at the main office where the MAIN server is at and this server was on the network up there it was fast, I've moved it to a different city and different IP number 10.6.x.x instead of the 10.1.x.x(MAIN). and now everything is slow. This w2k3 server is a member server of a w2k domain. I believe they have a 256K line to connect to the main office. They do use WINS which resides on the MAIN server at the 10.1.x.x network. Interent on the server is fairly responsive. Clients that are local to this server and I have a mpped drive to, take forever to run executable shortcust I have for them on the desktop. Any help would be great.

Sounds like you have DNS issues. Is DNS installed anywere at the branch office? Is everyone at that branch having the same trouble? You might need to have a server at the branch office with (DNS, DHCP, WINS) that replicates with the main servers. This way everyone in that branch will log into the local server and not have to send information over the WAN to login. Which takes up time.

dns isn't in the branch. odd thing is I can term. service into this server from the outside and everything works great...
