I have an app that works on other networks but one customer
added new w2k workstations and left his old w98 as the peer to peer windows networking server. Now he is getting frequent fatal excptions
C00005 type and other strange stuff. I had them set the w2k's up as fat32 but it didn't help. I think it is because of his w2k to w98 set up. Any other Ideas will be appreciated before I tell him he must upgrade the server to w2k.

TIA

I've heard of miscellaneous "problems" with getting Win98 and Win2k to talk to each other, though I have no problems myself. If Win98 is just a file server and the VFP is running on each Win2k client, and you get C05's that don't happen when the Win2k computers run vfp locally (with nothing to do with the win98 computer), then i'd say you're right... there is network corruption happening.

Though, it could be the new win2k computer's NIC doing the corruption (or the Win98's NIC having gone bad).. or bad wiring..etc.

Mallee,
First make sure the W2K workstation is running SP 2, or better yet SP3. Also minimize the number of protocols running on your network - only TCP/IP would be best.
