Hi,

I am having a problem with my W2K laptop. The machine powers off by itself from time to time. NAV always crashes when the scan is in the c:\i386 directory. I downloaded SpyBot and have run it quite a few times, but still no luck.

I downloaded HiJackThis, but when I try to do a scan it reports that an error has occurred and a log file will be created, but never completes. I can't seem to find the supposed logfile.

I tried Web Root SpySweeper and it finds entries, but when I try to clean them, the machine crashes.

Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

KSDadGuy

Start, Run, eventvwr.msc

What events are recorded at the time the machine restarts or "crashes."

right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery. Uncheck to automaticly restart on errors.

You need to see what is going on when the machine restarts.
