I have been trying to set up a VPN, I finally realized that I think I need 2000 Server rather than 2000 Pro. Can anyone confirm this, is there an add on to pro that would make it a server?

Are there any good How To's: for setting up VPN's

Thanks
Abe

To use 2k as a VPN server, you need 2k server. The component that will allow you to run VPN is Routing and Remote Access Server (RASS). There is no add-on for pro that will make it a server, you will have to install a fresh copy of 2000 server. If the only compelling reason to upgrade to 2000 server would be VPN, I'd suggest looking into a hardware solution. Watchguard and Cisco have good products that will probably fit your VPN needs, starting at $600 for a 10-user VPN-enabled firewall from Watchguard. I've used their products before and found them to be excellent in function and ease of use. Marc Creviere
