I had in mind to have my emailserver run seperately from my w2k fileserver (w2k server). however, the installation notes of Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 Enterprise tell me to install the software on a w2k server machine.

is it therefore possible to have two w2k server machines run aside in the same domain at the same level? what will happen to my active directory if i install this second machine.

tnx

It will be fine. Not only can you have multiple Domain Controllers, it is recommended by Microsoft. Install the second one, join it to the Domain, Run DCPROMO and choose new DC in an existing Domain. It will contact the first DC and replicate all you AD info over.

Thanks,

You can also just install the new server as a member server with exchange installed on it.
