We have encountered a problem as follows:

W2K Legato Server with 6.1.1
W2K clients with SAN Storage Nodes.
AIX 4.3.3 clients clients with SAN storage nodes.

Compaq Super DLTs.

We are using Dynamic Drive Sharing.

I can label tapes on either the Legato server or on either the AIX or W2K SAN storage nodes. But when the AIX clients load the tapes, I get "rewind: Bad File Number", and then the tape is unloaded.

The W2K nodes can all read the tapes correctly, even the ones labelled on the AIX clients.

Has anyone run into this problem before?

Any suggestions - I have tried various block sizes on the AIX clients?

Thanks.

Hi,

If you are using DDS you have to enable SCSI reserve/release functions from the operating System. I dont know the exact parameter in smitty. But youll find it.
Block size has to be 0 (variable block size)in AIX.
