I have windows 2000 pro on a NT 4.0 Network. I checked my event log today and have many of these errors. At a rate of about 9 per day. Does anyone have any information. None of the technet articles seem to relate.

Event ID: 5719

No Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller is available for domain SWPLASTICS. The following error occurred:
The RPC server is unavailable.

It usually indicates a lack of connectivity between the computer reporting the error and a domain controller for its domain. It could be improper TCP/IP settings or bad LMHOSTS or HOSTS file references...

See Q266729 for a description of the Netlogon service on Windows NT 4.0.

Have you activated the RPC service om the W2k computer?

Yes, but what is the RPC Locator? That is set to manual and not started.

Remote Procedure Call, and it is supposed to be set for automatic startup

There is RPC and RPC locator. RPC is auto and started.

In Tcp/IP settings is LMHOSTS lookup activated?

Make sure your time is synchronized or as close as possible. Also check your logs to make sure the W2K PC is not forcing and election.
