Hello all,
When I have my laptop disconnected from a network I cannot instantiate a DCOM TCP/IP object. It seems like the IP stack is not up in some way, but I can still ping myself. An example of this is - the system fails to map a drive to itself when not connected to a network. This worked fine on NT4.
(more about the drive mapping)
I have a share on a server (say d and when I take my laptop home I want to have drive d: be a local directory (so that I do not have to change software configurations).
The above worked fine on NT4 but does not work on W2K. I believe the COM problem may be connected in some way to this.
Is there a way to ensure that the system brings up all network services even when it does not sense a network cable is connected to the adaptor?
Thank you in advance for your responce.
