Currently, we have two domains in house. The first domain (A), runs AD in W2K mixed mode and only has W2K domain controllers. The second domain (B) has only NT 4 servers with one PDC.
We are planning to upgrade Domain A to W2K native mode. However, there is no money to upgrade anything in domain B. Of course, domain B runs a critical Web application that can be broken down as such:
- NT4 COM objects run the application layer
- SQL Server 7 is the database
- Users access the service with IE
With the exception of back-up services (which we can move) there is no real dependencies or relationships between A and B.
Is anyone aware of any problems we may encounter moving forward with our plans to upgrade Domain A to W2K native and leaving B as an NT 4 domain?
