In my W2K domain network I am getting a strange error while restarting w2k prof and w2k servers for a month now. While rebooting a dos screen says the following message

WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT:
<WINDOWS ROOT>\SYSTEM32\NTOSKRNL.EXE
PLEASE REINSTALL A COPY OF THE ABOVE FILE.

I have tried many options to restore the pcs like used the ERD diskettes, copied the file from winnt\driver cache\i386 folder, expanded the same file from the installation CD in console repair mode etc. Even after repairing the system with installation CD, I tried to restore the backup of the registry and system state backup but the system cannot be brought back to the old state and forcing me to reinstall the OS. Certain drivers are impossible to reinstall.

Does anybody have simillar problem..help me...I am getting scared what will happen to our main servers if this happens....noticed this happens on restarting the pc. Kindly help

Whow!!! Someone changed HAL for your server? Not good. Hope you know which one :)
