I have a w2003 network with 98, 2k and XP clients, and office from 97 through to 2003.
The file server seem quite slow at times, usually the disk queue stays below .5 but sometimes there is a hit queue length hitting 4 or 5 for periods of time network sees at hit at the same time, drive is raid 5 with compaq 3200 controller.
Some 98 client freeze when working with office document and have to be rebooted, this creates files on the server that have no extention the filename just consist of a number, in some instances the office documents become corrupt after the client freezes.
A couple of XP users have noticed that the temporary files created when an office document is open remain after the document has been closed.
This is a new compaq P4 server that is well upto the job.
Anyone have any ideas
