Hi

i need to know how to set Security Permissions on a W2000 Server to hide Files/Folders from people who do not have access to these files/folders.

i once managed to do so whil ei was playing around a bit but now that i need it i can't get it to work again ..

As far as I know, there is no "hide" security right in Windows 2000. Folders that are not shared are hidden.

If a folder is shared, your users may be able to "see" subfolders. However, if the users do not have NTFS rights to the subfolders, they will not be able to access the information.

I think you should either redesign you folder heirachy so that shared folders have no subfolders in them or inform your users that they may "see" some folders that they don't have access to.
