Hello All!

We have 8 workstations, all running 2000Pro, and all hooked into a server running 2000 server edition. Several of the workstations have printers installed and shared so that anyone in the office can print to them.

Now here's the problem: when the office manager tries to print to the front desk printer (HP deskjet 920c), no matter what number she puts under "number of copies", the printer will only print one document. If she tries to print one copy *twice* - it will still only print the first copy unless she waits until the printer is finished with the first one.

Any ideas why the printer won't allow her to print multiple copies? The front desk, where the printer is a local machine, can print multiple copies with no problem.

Thanks in advance!

Here we go again... I removed all references to the network printer from workstation7, along with all HP software, so that the only printer on that ws7 is the local printer on LPT1 (a samsung laser printer). Rebooted computer, several times.

Went to printers folder, clicked on Add Printer, found the HP920c on the front desk (ws9) and successfully added it.

However, when ws7 is using Word or Excel and you choose print - and then choose 920c from the dropdown menu - everything locks up. The print dialog window will not close, the drop down menu doesn't even retract. After several minutes I get a "program not responding" and both the print dialog box and the program are shut down.

Any advice on how I should proceed?

Thanks all!

Is the user that is trying to print the multiple copies a member of print operators/managers, or just a regular user?
Sounds like the user cannot change the properties of the default settings, so try elevating permissions on the printer's security settings to full control (change the security on the PC that is sharing the printer..not the troubled-users' system), and try again. RIght-click on the printer on the local PC, go to properties, and make sure everyone has full control to manage printers and documents.

Give that a shot. pbxman

I have a very similar problem. Although most people do not attempt to print muliple copies, we have had an issue where standard users cannot print multiple copies on various printers (e.g. HP LJ 4200 and LJ 2100 TN). We work in a very locked-down environment, and allowing the general public access to manage printers is not a palatable option for us. The drivers are at the latest revision and we still experience the same problem. Anyone else encounter this problem? If so, what was your resolution?
