I have a CXi and am trying to get VxWorks on putty. I logged in and got shell restarted but nothing comes out after the arrow and solid green cursor. What should I do next to get VxWorks to boot .

May I add that I have typed in "reboot" at the prompt and observed the CX LED flashing red indicating reboot but nothing displays on my PC. Tried firewall on and off to no avail

Are you plugged in to the RS232 maintenance port? That's the only way you will see boot info.....

Are you connecting via SSH or phyically on a com port?

If physically, how certain are you that your cable is good?

Hey! what a dummy I am. You mean I need the RS232 connection to use the Putty: IP Addr/port2002/Raw in order to get the boot display.
How do I select the Com Port, the baud speed and bit parameters without a Terminal Emulator, or do I also need the emulator to get the Putty display. Please help in logical procedure. BR

See that radio button next to the word serial in putty. You don/t need a login if connected physically.

Awesome! got VxWorks running on Putty but couldnt load the ftproot file even with the Firewall turned off. I beleive is to do with my IIS ftp setup because even the MCD Installer Tool cant locate the specified ftproot file. Two Questions:

1) can one help me with step by step Mitel 3300 settings of the IIS for Windows 7

2} what other way can the MCD Installer Tool be used to locate the software for upgrade in view of the problem highlighted above

????

Maybe you should tell us what you are trying to accomplish instead of looking for solutions for your issues.

Your last post mentioning the Installer tool and locating software makes no sense with respect to Putty and boot parameters

Am trying to understand the upgrade and install procedures using the two choices i.e Terminal Emulator and Installer Tool.
Initailly I tried downloading ProcommPlus on Rs232 for VxWorks on my Windows 7 Pro X64bit laptop but cannot download ProcommPlus. With the help of the forum I explored using VxWorks via Putty to scratch it which boots ok but cannot locate the software from the ftp/ftproot.

I tried the second option of MCD Installer Tool which again cannot get the file specified in the ftp/ftproot which concludes to me that perhaps my ftp through the IIS is not setup correctly. I disabled the firewall to no effect

What device hosts this ftp/ftproot directory?

That does not look like a normal windows directory for IIS to me. normally just c:\ftproot.

Typically the FTP server is referenced by IP address and whatever is operating as the root folder contains the Software.

Can you confirm that you have downloaded the SW from Mitel Online and are not somehow trying to extract the software from the working system?

I still don't understand what you are trying to do. I assume it is to setup a Boot_Install. I use third party ftp as I had problems with the windows builtin not always working as expected.

Either way, to make changes during the boot process you need to have access to the serial port. You can use the serial part of putty as long as you have either a serial port or some usb to serial device. The ability to connect to 2002 is only available after the system has got that service running. I often tell customers to put and ip to serial device on the maint port, especially if it is a remote location.

Many thanks. Got it running and loaded the software Ok. I can log in and the status shows no alarm and am also able to verify the software version. The issue that I have now is that the drop down is not active for the system config/system admin/Maint&Dig. I click it and nothing happens. Am running Windows 7 Pro on a 64bit PC

Compatability mode in Internet explorer 11? or are you running firefox (assuming the software level is 7?)JOOI what is the software version.

I understand I am hijacking this thread now, but as my question is related I am posting here.

With the virtual mcd's the RTC component has been virtualized as well I guess.
Has anyone figured a way of opening telnet session to it?

This what I've got from the logs:

Tried every 10.0.111.* address on the list on both ports 2002/23 and didn't open a session.

From the SD logs, where could I potentially see the vRTC IP?

on a virtual controller you need to use ssh and root login then enter this

siterm /var/atlas/tenant0.0

that will then display console information from MiVB

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
