Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a backup regime using a VXA2 tape drive attached to a p650. All seems to go well when backing up the data, but on issuing a rewoff command at the end I get the message:

/dev/rmt0.1 rewoffl 1 failed: The media surface is damaged.

The tape is actually ejected as it should be and I have confirmed that the backups taken are readable, so it doesn't seem to be a media problem, despite this message. Has anyone come across this before? TIA. Have a good weekend.

If I may ask, what backup method are you using ?

Sorry, should have specified. I'm using backup/restore.

I have a p615 and I do not have the problem. I normally use sysback and just to test it out tried with the backup/restore and it seems to work o.k
