I've just taken on a client with a Dell Poweredge 1800 server and an Exabyte VXA-2 IDE internal drive. The issue is very odd; I noticed that ntbackup wasn't working; checked device manager and got an error 39 (bad driver). Reinstalled the VXA2 driver from Exabyte's website, but no change.
Pulled drive, brought it back to the shop, hooked it up to another machine with a new cable, installed driver and no problems. Took it back to the client and reinstalled, same cable from the shop and everything, still getting the error 39 in device manager and drive fails VXA Tools tests (it passed the tests in the shop).
I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
