Hi all

Anyone know why I'd get the following error on a layer 3 3550:

vtp protocol user notification: Version 1 device detected on gig0/2 after grace period has expired.

But the odd thing is I diffenatly have a server pluged into the port! Do I assume that one switch somewhere on the network is running vtp version 1 and the gig0/2 is a red hearing?

Will this cause network issues or is this purly informational?

Cheers

Rich

Good news is that unless it's the same VTP versions and VTP domains, you don't have to worry about them talking to each other. Have you tried to parse this error message on Cisco's web site?

Do you know the server is not running trunking , some of the new nics allow trunking and channeling down to the server level .
