Hi, ..

in the next time I have to change a supII (cat 5000) into a supIII, because of Gigabit , Multicast ect. advantages.

Whatever, the supII now is in VTP server mode, and the directly devices attached to it are in transparent mode.

(I know there are also clients, ... but right now I dont´t know where exactly.)

When I remove the supII, and replace it with a supIII with an older config - revision number -- but for sure in server mode --- what happens in the meantime with my VTP ?????

Who becomes server ??? And how is it possible to make my old Switch with the new supIII to the actual server in this domain, eh ?

Hmmmm, ... ;-) best regards

As long as you don't reload the clients you can replace the server without really bad things happening. You should do it at a time that has the smallest dependency just to be sure. You should probably track the clients down and make them transparent - keep it stupid simple rule.
