I have often wondered why the VSU can only be accessed locally from a DTS.
Is this Ericssons way of making it "secure", so it can't be remotely hacked?
In a call center situation it is impractical to manually re-record the VSU over a handset each time a different message is needed.

Is there no way to get around this?

I can get the pc sound card to send the wav file down the speech pair using a headset amplifier, but the msg number etc all has to be dialled manually.

I've lost count of how many times I've had customers complain about this limitation.

And 4W E&M setups are fraught with problems.

Thanx for any help.

There is no way to access VSU via remotely even using ccs signalling. It was designed like this. Your customer should be able to do the recording themselves. Teach them how. Our customer here can do this simple job. Mostly they have supervisor or operator who is responsible regarding this.

They can all "do it" its a case of automation and convenience. Especialy if the msg is to be large and complex. One scenario is the msg is put together out of multiple different pieces on a pc then output to the msg device. And the customer is telling me "The Avaya can recieve these msg's from the pc, why can't the Ericsson?"
Seems crap to me, and I love MD110's.

Thanx for the reply

Hello struthmate, recording a message is really easy and non high tech. Anyone with a good command in your language or a good voice can do it and for sure someone in that customers of yours can record a simple welcome message or queue message. There is no big deal regarding this. Hope you enjoy your MD110.

I don't want them to do avaya. But thanx for the oh so helpfull post affy1977 :p
patcher I think you are also missing the point. I or anyone else can record the msg onto the VSU using the DTS, very easily. I am wanting to record onto the VSU NOT using a DTS. Surely I am not the only one in the world wanting to interface an analog device into the VSU.

Thanx for reading though.

Well, its really not good to play with VSU without display information.

I seen this problem too, also when sharing more than one vsu for the same message (for capacity). We have "fixed" it by using the option unit. It has a sound card connection and with this you can use the dts to get to the right message and the let the PC play it.

It's not a great solution but it's better than doing it manually.....

I see that you all fight for the Ericsson VSU-Solution. And I understand you, because a MD110 is not the typical Callcentermachine.

But you must agree, that the solution with the option unit linked to a soundcard is not a strong solution. You must remove the handset to suppress the room-noises. You must handle the loudspeaker- and the mute-key from phone and the play-key of your Sound-Software in the same moment...You must know how long your message is (because you can not hear it) to press pound in the right moment at the end. And my experience is, that you have a loss of quality with the option unit. Customers pay a lot of money and let create the messages in a sound-studio and then they are disappointed because of the poor quality, even if uncompressed.

VSU was a very good step to replace the VRU, but now time is come to give us a new scenario.

Sorry, just tried to be helpfull. You can always you Solidus E-care that will give you this and has been designed for call centre.

Also in the MX-one you can download norma wav files to us instead.
