Greetings all
I have a colleague that recently had the drive on her PC re-imaged. Since having the PC reloaded, we are seeing some odd behavior as related to VSS and wondered if anyone could offer any insights.
Here is the gist of it. We have a large VSS database on our LAN that is used as a repository for web files. Both she and I have the same access rights in VSS. For existing folders inside the VSS database, she is unable to ADD new files. She can create new folders and add new files to these folders, but cannot ADD new files to an existing folder. When she attempts to add a file, everything appears to be fine until you click the button to actually add the file. At this point, the PC hangs momentarily and finally posts the following error: Error reading from file
Here is what we have tried thus far:
1. Uninstalled VSS and reinstalled. No change.
2. Examined the properties of the file 9 ways from Sunday. Nothing obvious.
3. Created a totally new VSS user with all appropriate rights.
4. Logged into VSS using new user name and tested. No change.
5. Logged into her PC using MY credentials and VSS user name and tested. No change.
6. Added files to VSS folder from my PC. I can add them, she cannot.
7. Deleted the vssver.scc file from the offending folder on the PC.
The PC involved is running Windows 2000 PE with all patches applied. There is approx 8.3 Gigs of free space on the drive and the PC is equipped with 256 Megs of RAM.
Grasping at straws here. Thanks in advance for any insights. Please also reply to rick.stone@worldspan.com if you choost to post a reply.
Sincerely... Rick
