VSS really slow on rebuilt server

Good afternoon.

Thanks to NIMDA, our development server had to totally be rebuilt with all software reloaded.

Since then, VSS has been running very slowly. Checking in and out individual files takes 2 - 3 seconds, and forget checking out an entire large project.

Does anyone have anyplace to start to speed things up a bit? We are all clueless; we've never had a bit of trouble with VSS before.

Thanks. Kathryn

We had encountered a similar situation when our VSS db was moved to another server. After a week of intolerant response we were given the necessary window to run Analyze and Fix. 26 hours later, problem fixed! Never really took the time to review the logs to determine what was missed or broken, but it worked. (Hate "black box" answers, but that was our solution!)

Hope it helps,
JerryN

Thanks Jerry,

I just found out from our network guys that the slowdown is due to the fact that Norton AntiVirus is now on every PC and Server in the building, scanning every file, every time is it opened.

That will cause a slowdown, alright! Kathryn
