VSS Errors - 5.2 Client / Clustered Node

Hi,

New one i havent seen before, server fails to backup (just 5 days ago was working fine before for months), with Volume Shadow Copy service errors. This is when attempting to backup the System State or System Services, local disks are fine.

I tried setting the MEMORYEFFICIENTBACKUP to YES, as advised on another forum, this didnt help me.

the client is only 5.2.2 which i know is rubbish! But updating things in this environment (Goverment) is a nightmare. 5.4 might fix it , I dont know 100% though.

Any ideas?

There are rafts and rafts of notes out there concerning the kinds of errors you mentioned, and updating the client code always comes out on top as being a Good Thing to Do.

What happens if you try to backup the System State / System Services individually?

I have seen behaviour like this before,it was some app ( from symantec ) that was using VSS.
