I am currently testing virtualising some physical servers to VM's and have hit a snag at the 1st hurdle...
I had some issues due to SP2 being applied to the W2K3 server but I have managed to get the two hotfixes to resolve this. I have a HP DL320 server running Windows 2000 Server that I have captured OK and quite quickly. I then ran the the script to create the VM & drives etc, all without problems. When I then run the 'deploy' script the VM starts and PXE boots however it takes ages to copy the data back and eventually gives up with the error 'the network circuit was disconnected' being logged on the ADS Server.
I know this is not a network issue as this is all in a test environment. The target server (DL320) has a Compaq SCSI controller and various searches seem to point to this maybe being the issue, however I am still struggling.
I have seen posts saying the virtual SCSI & IDE drivers need putting in the ADS repository which I have done but still the issue remains. Most of the posts seem to date back to 2005 so I assume things have been fixed?, but I am still struggling to get this working in my environment.
The Virtual Server, ADS 1.1 & VSMT are all on the same server which is a Quad Xeon Dell Poweredge with 16GB of DRAM and RAID-5 across some 72GB disks so I don't think it is a performance issue with the server.
Any takers?
Andy
