Hi Shazzam,
Could you clarify a bit further?

When I login to the ftp site I can copy files but gets written in / I do know why, how can I copy to each one of these drives with one login account..

I don't really understand what you're having problems with.

Are you asking to copy files from the remote server, or copying files to the remote server?

Or, are you saying you have to login with a different username to access each of the remote drives?

OR, are you saying you're having problems copying from the remote server to your local machine because it only copies them to your root(/)?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply:
1. Testing a setup for a NAS server tried samba it is slow I want to try vsftp the upload and download is faster.
2. This server will not be accessible to public it will have its own subnet.
3. This server will be part of a backup scheme so I will be copying files to it.

Thanks

Which account are you using to log in?

Why not just cd into the directories in question (/mnt/fileN) before you upload the files?

Annihilannic.

regular user account and from a windows mechine how can access the linux box and cd to those drives? Don't I need either samba or something?

thanks

Windows explorer can do the ftp (I believe one must turn on an option to get it to ask for user/password (or you can embed the info in the URL. Also there are several ftp shareware ftp gui's for the pc.

How are you trying to access the site now? ( I am going to guess that you might be seeing the "anonymous" account rather than a login account).

Got it working thank you all.

made changes in fstab then mounted the drives
