hello,

i'm trying to configure vsftp on one of our linux boxes. I believe i have put all the various files in place but each time i ftp it asks for a login id and then a password which i give it but it keeps coming back with LOGIN INCORRECT?

can anyone point me in the right direction?

with all users? or only root?

pls, post the configs (resumed).

Hello,

this being my first linux build and for some reason i cannot get telnet ro work!

the one file we have edited is /etc/vsftpd.conf, should there be any others?

we can only login as ftp currently!

any pointers would be great, i will also try and send you the config file outputs.

hmmm... telnet and ftp are 2 VERY different services! so one trouble at a time.

what is your OS distro? telnet is disabled by default, use SSH instead.

ftp: yes, that's the ona you should edit, pls post the relevant part (erase all comments!)

Yes, post the config file & also make sure that the user has the appropriate file system permissions.

Hello,

we have finally resolved this issue! We just removed the old vsftpd software and re-installed new software. Then just worked our way through the various entries in the vsftpd.conf file.

Cheers for the advice

Nick
