Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anybody can help.

Im having a problem with one of our suppliers ftp'ing us their product list.

In the xferlog im getting the following entry

Mon Aug 14 09:14:48 2006 1 192.168.1.250 0 /home/c2000/data_files/c2000.zip b _ i r c2000 ftp 0 * i
Mon Aug 14 09:14:55 2006 1 192.168.1.250 0 /home/c2000/data_files/c2000.zip b _ i r c2000 ftp 0 * i
Mon Aug 14 09:15:02 2006 1 192.168.1.250 0 /home/c2000/data_files/c2000.zip b _ i r c2000 ftp 0 * i

However when i ftp the same file myself from my windows machine the transfer works
Here is the entry for this in the xferlog

Mon Aug 14 09:02:24 2006 1 192.168.1.250 0 /home/c2000/ftptest.txt a _ i r c2000 ftp 0 * c
Mon Aug 14 09:11:50 2006 1 192.168.1.250 935834 /home/c2000/c2000.zip a _ i r c2000 ftp 0 * c

The difference seems to be one is binary mode and the other is ascii mode.

Anyone got any ideas why the first ftp is not completing??

Thanks
Dessie

I had the same problem once using the browser as FTP client.

If so, tell them to use a FTP client and disable passive mode. If they are using windoz there are a few free client softwares, my favorite one is FTP_commander (http:/ ), for linux there must be some hundreds client software out there to choose from.
