Can someone explain the difference in the following three settings? Scan files:

1-When writing to disk (which disk? local? network?)

2-When reading from disk (which disk? local? network?)

3-On network drives

I have set/enabled "from disk" and "network" but I think this is affecting my users ability to quickly open files. They complain about the amount of time it takes to open various Excel and Word files from the network. I am confused as to what is meant by "On network drives"?

I don't like to scan incoming and outgoing files as I think that's redundant. I like incoming only a.k.a. "reading from disk", and have had great success with just that setting in the past.

AVChap? anyone?

Reading From Disk is equivalent to "Files being read from local HD" or READ; Writing To Disk is equal to "Files being written to local HD" or WRITE; On Network Drives are those files being accessed from a remote site (network drive which are mapped or configured on the machine).

Incoming only scanning should be fine. On network can be optional since the files still have to be copied locally to a temp dir.
