VSE 7.1 and 8.0 refuses to install

Some of our XP stations refuse to install VSE 8.0

Could this be an MSI related problem?
How can I fix this.

Here is a small part from "VSEInst.log":

We're using
ePO 3.5
Common Management Agent 3.5 Patch 2

-FramePkg.exe /silent /forceuninstall
-Setup.exe REMOVE=ALL (VSE7.1 setup to remove VSE7.1)
-Setup8.exe REMOVE=ALL (VSE8.0 setup to remove VSE8.0)
-MsiExec.exe /X {87AEFD84-BC0D-11D4-B885-00508B022A51} /q (VS 4.5.1 removal)
-Manually deleted files & dirs:

-"<Program Files>\Network Associates\"
-"<all users>\Application Data\Network Associates\"
-"<system32>\updatelog.txt"

-Manually deleted regkeys:

-"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall\{87AEF...}" (VS4.5.1 key)
-"HKLM\Software\Network Associates\"
-"HKLM\System\Controleset001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MCAFEEFRAMEWORK"

The Frameworkservice is working fine.
(if I install FrameWorkService 3.5.0.412 it perfectly upgrades to 3.5.0.446)



Following mcscript.log the setup has been executed

No policies for VIRUSCAN8000 are enforced
but the EPOAGENT policies are enforced correctly.

Mcshield isn't running.

VSE isn't even installed. There are no traces of a virusscanner to be found on the harddisk

the directory
c:\Program Files\Network Associates\
only contains Common Framework no virusscan directory

The service MCshield doesn't exist and there is also no trace of the dircetory virusscan underneath
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\


But the weird thing is that in the eposerver directory I see
VirusScan Enterprise 8.0
General
Product Version - 8.0.0
but nothing else (except "System information", "ePOlicy Orchestrator Agent" & "Product Coverage Reports" with all their sub branches (filled in))



any ideas?
