We use VS32 for 3-party and 8-party conference calls. I got reports of volume drops when moving from 2-party to 3-party conference or from 3-party to 4+ party conference. There is AIPDL to adjust levels and it was done and actually there is no volume level change when between 2-party calls and 3 or more party conferences on the VS32.
BUT, in doing tests with an actual VU meter attached to one phone in the conference, and playing gray noise into the conference from another phone, is that after about 30-40 seconds the VU meter shows a 10dB audio level drop over a 1 second time period. Literally, the system smothers the noise coming through. No change on the gray noise going into the conference call, but what's measured on the other end is dropping by 10dB. This happens on 3-party conference call and also on 8-party conference call.
When I do normal talk, (not gray noise), I was not able to produce this volume drop after talking for about 1 minute. However we have user-report of volume going lower in conference calls, which lasted 37 minutes and over 2 hours. So we think the same feature kicks in, just takes longer to do so.
Our idea is that the VS32 has some sort of noise cancelling or hearing protection feature of some sort. We need to find a way to turn it off.
It does not happen on 2-way call but can always be easily reproduced on conference calls on VS32.
Anybody heard of this or has any idea how to disable such feature in the VS32?
