VS .Net keeps configuring

i did a fresh install of Visual Studio .net professional on my W2K machine. *Everytime* i start the program Windows shows this message:
"Please Wait While Windows Configures Visual Studio .NET professional", and i have to wait a minute. . .

What went wrong?

desperate me finaly took the decision to reinstall everything from the ground up. it is working now.
