I have a VS mail 4.1. Recently we upgraded to 4X40 from 2X10 with the flash card. All ports were tested at installation but now we get an intermittant problem where messages are garbled. Its seems only to happen on about 1/2 of the Ext.

Any idea's as to what is happening?

DSWEET,

Sounds like either your processor isn't transmitting the voice messages to your VS R4.1 at the correct signal rate, or more probably ... your VS R4.1 has corrupted software and needs to be repaired.

This seems to be an intermitant problem. Could it be a port issue? Or would the problem be on the flash card?

Dsweet,

I doubt that it is a port roblem as the VS voice mail modules use "virtual" ports not system wired ports. The VS R4 4x40 PC Card doesn't do anything but relay a signal back to the VS processor on the main circuit board that the 4x40 expansion card is present which activates the additional 2 ports and 30 mailbox capacity and requires that the additional 2 extensions be added to the VM Hunt Group #7.

You might want to check to be sure your VM Hunt Group #7 has the proper assigned extensions. Typically you will not be able to access the system reliably if they are't, but we have seen strange cases where random errors occur when the 4 VM "virtual extensions" on the VS module aren't assigned correctly. If you access system programming mode, then go into VM Hunt Group #7 - #505 then 7, do a scroll up thru your extension numbers to see what is assigned. You should have added an additional 2 extensions to the Hunt Group #7 when you upgraded with the 4x40 PC Card. They would have been the next two extensions lower than the two previously assigned for the VS R4.1 originally ... ie. ext. 35 & 36 were originally assigned to Hunt Group #7 and now ext 33 & 34 should also be assigned.

Let me know how we can help. I still think it is a corrupt software issue as we have encountered many times in the past during our repair work on the VS mods. Andrew Roach

dsweet,
have you tried rebooting the system? we've found that this has cleared up the problem (make sure it's a complete power down, wait 30 seconds and then power back up). Try to do it off hours so there is little or no traffic to the VM.
