IS-IT--Management
We are running a hosted VPS Windows 2003 Server and would like to be able to manage our own backups to store on a local PC in the event that the server fails.
Currently the host provide a backup solution but it's limited and still stored on their servers. We'd like "offline" storage of the backup image.
Is there a way to do this with Backup Exec? We were thinking perhaps an install on a local PC which we could then point to the server IP address to perform a backup. Of course the backup would occur over the Internet so we'd need to be able to encrypt the files for transfer.
The alternative I guess is to install BE on the server, run a backup and then manually FTP it down to the local PC. Is this a viable option? We'd like to use the first method if possible as we wouldn't need to manually pull the files down, just schedule a backup and leave the PC on.
