We have been using a Netgear Prosafe VPN to allow remote users access to local network. Then have them plug the Phones and Computer directly into ports. The problem we're having is remote users more times than not have DHCP and have to re-configure both VPN's in order to connect when their license is renewed. Does anyone know of a firewall that would allow the far end VPN to authenticate based on MAC address or something other than IP address to create a more stable environment where they don't have to reconfigure the VPN's

Most mid-low level VPN routers can authenticate by pre-shared key or an arbitrarily assigned ID.

Can you not create an Asynchronous Branch Tunnel with your netgear? Check out BSR222. Rock solid and inexpensive

We have been using the RV082 and RV042 routers from Linksys. They are not as cheap as the Netgears but they are VERY VERY stable and the RV082 supports I think 50 tunnels. Also you can set it up so the main site is a Static IP address and the other sites are Dynamic. OR you can also use a dynamic Address Name service like DYNDNS.org. It is free "one per user" and uses the router to update the free name if it's IP address changes. This way you tell it to go to site1.dyndns.org and site2.dyndns.org This way THAT never changes, just the IP address that points to. And the router has a spot to program it so it updates to dyndns.org on changes. Works for us. Let me know if you have any more questions about it.
