Greetings Guys,

I have TFTP server set up with software to upgrade a few 4625 telephones and convert a few to VPN Phones. I set the telephones for group 876, set the file server address to the TFTP box and reboot. The IP sets pick up newer software. How do I get the telephones to load the VPN software?

Thank You,
Quaz

To be honest those phones are between 15-17 years old maybe older. The Authentication and Encryption is very poor on those phones I would not recommend setting up a VPN on those phones.
Setup a VPN per network, securely would work way better and minimise the administration work needed to setup per phone while keeping a higher level of security standards.

bahmonkeys, I am with you. I only use 9600's in the real world. A FAQ by tipeter set me straight on the administration of 9600 phones. I have, to date, not gotten the 4600's to load the VPN software. I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong and make it work just to know I got it and I can make it work.

How do you tell the 4625 to run in VPN mode?

I think you need to set that somewhere, somehow.

Maybe in a special 46xxsettings file?

(dunno, never dun it)

Its a program you run on your PC and connect the phone to it. Upload the VPN firmware and the settings file. This would not be advised in real world scenarios but for testing this can be achieved

Bahmonkeys,

I have used the VPNRemote.exe and the program never finds the ethernet interface. The app will run for n hour and then state that the app cannot find the interface connected to the telephone.

Have you ever used the app successfully?

Not on Windows 10. Try disabling your firewall/ antivirus. Run as administrator. Run wireshark, try system event viewer. You need to find why it doesn't work which I reckon is a Windows issue

Bahmonkeys,

I broke out my XP machine. Worked great!

Thank you for the information.
