We would like to setup VPNremote on a 4621SW telephone with our IP Office system. We are running IP Office v3.2(55). Is this functionality currently available for the IP Office and 4621SW phones? We are getting conflicting information on this and I would like to get a definitive answer.

We are using a Cisco ASA 5510 for VPN connectivity. The ASA is similar to a PIX, which Avaya's web page states works with VPNremote on the 4600 series phones.

If anyone has experience setting up VPNremote and is willing to work with us on our implementation please let me know.

Thanks.

I can tell you that it works we have them at home.

It is licenced with a WebLM license server

I cant tell you how to configure because we have a security person in house dad did the Cisco ASA and VPN configuration.

Said on the VPNRemote download page

"VPNremote Phone allows for secure remote IP telephony access through a Security Gateway. This software will convert a standard H323 IP telephone 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW and 4625SW to a VPNremote Phone"

This software actually work on any IPSec VPN gateway, Avaya just have special configs for Avaya Security Gateway, Juniper and Cisco PIX.

Have this running on a Linksys router.

I have them using the Generic PSK profile to connect to Kentrox Q-Series routers as well. Works nicely.

Are there any vendors out there that would be willing to work with my company to set this up on our system? If so, please provide your contact info so we can discuss this further.

Thanks.

There are some that can do this, you should probably say what country you're in since people here are from all around the world.

Also one way would be to ask your reseller and they should be able to find a BP that can provide that service.

I am in the United States, in New York. My reseller doesn't have experience with loading VPNremote on phones, which is why I am looking for a reseller that does to help me out with the configuration.

I would like to go to New York, but don't think the travel expenses would be resonable from Sweden :)

We do have a few New Yorkers here, don't know if they played around it VPNRemote though since I can't remember their alias at the moment.

if they can't get the vpn remote software on the phone's then they should not work with ip phones at all
i think it is harder to setup the rest of the equiptment

Women and cats can do as they please and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea!

It's more that they haven't done it in the past. I fully believe that they could learn how to install VPNremote if need be, but I would rather have someone that has experience installing VPNremote help instead of going through the pain of working with my existing reseller while they learn how to setup VPNremote.

melmac would you give me details on the setup you used with the Kentrox to get the VPNremote to work?

kholladay,

It was a very straight-forward config with 1 exception. In the Tunnel config, Phase 2 for the Kentrox - set the lifetime to 432000 seconds. Other than that, just configure it as you would any other client gateway. If you have problems, post them here and I will try and help.
