We run a standard Windows 2K VPN server on our network, (ports 1723 and ports 47 GRE are open/forwarded on our Lynksys VPN/Router). We are using PPTP rather then ISPEC.

Each client computer is running XP Pro using the built in XP VPN Client and connect to our server via MSCHAP V.2

While each user can connect to our VPN server without issue while connecting via a standard ethernet connection, the moment they try to connect via a wireless connection, either from a home wireless or via a hotel wireless connection, they are unable to connect to our VPN.

Would this most likely be a server side or client side issue? Do most wireless AP's block ports 1723 and 47?

So if they use their laptops at home and connect to their Wireless router via a cable (most linksys DSL routers have that ability) they can connect fine but if they use the same router via wirelessly then they can't connect?

Can you watch your logs and see if they are even attempting to connect? Tell them to deliberately use the incorrect password to it show up in you logs.

Post anything you get their and also the error code from the laptop would be of great use.

have a wee read of this;

Iain
