we have three remote sites each having a linksys befsx41 vpn router installed and a vpn established to our main site which has a watchguard x700.

the vpn connection is up and running and can make calls to and from the main site to each remote site.

my problem!!!!!!!

i want a ip hardphone at remote site 1 to be able to make a call to another ip hardphone at remote sites 2 & 3 at the moment we get the call to setup but we get no voice transmission.

remote site 1 192.168.1.0/24
remote site 2 192.168.2.0/24
remote site 3 192.168.3.0/24

main site 192.162.42.0/24
ip office is 192.162.42.4
gateway 192.162.42.3

please help been trying to get it working now for about 3 week and must be a slow learner or somthing starting to think it ain't possible but i'm sure it must be

thanks

Under the VOIP extention try unchecking "allow direct media path" and see what happens. When I was testing some VOIP stuff, that was my problem.

i have already unchecked that box but still no go i was advised to do that via my tech support but since that they don't know what else it could be.

thanks for your reply though

anything else i could try????????

Just a thought, make sure all your TCP ports are open on the firewall. A list of ports can be found in the R3 documentation /Applications/Monitor/Addendum/IP Office Ports

Make sure both extensions can reach each other directly via IP.
As soon as the connection is eshteblished between the extensions then the connection changes from TCP traffic into UDP (=VoIP speech ). As UDP traffic is a one way stream without checking if the receiver receive anything then thats just what happens here.

We are running a 406 with 3 out of 50 users at remote sites using befsx41s and a befvp41 at the 406 site, all can communicate. The only change we made was to uncheck
'Allow Direct Media Path

auEric

are you using your dsl for internet use aswell

cheers

thanks for your help guy's i finally got it working it was a tick box on the extn allow direct media path . there was another place which i had already unchecked allow direct media path which was in the lines tab

thanks again

Yes we are using the remote connections for internet, these are 1.5mbit ADSL with the 406 end being 2mbit SHDSL. The 406 end has 20 VPNs no QOS.
