Ok, so I'm having this weird issue in which I'm trying to set up a VPN connection to an existing server (RRAS configured and working). If I attempt to connect from one specific remote location (residence with cable Internet), I can connect fine while plugged directly into the cable modem. As soon as I put a router in the picture, the connection hangs at "verifying username and password", and then times out. This is the same for any computer i've tried from behind both this router (Linksys), and another router (netgear). On top of all this confusion, I can connect to other VPN's effortlessly while the router(s) are in place. Very confusing. I'm hoping someone has seen an issue like this before???? Client is XP Pro (SP2). Server is 2003 server (SP1). Currently there is a Linksys router at both ends. The client side, as mentioned, has cable Internet, and the server side has Verizon DSL... Can anyone help me with this??? Thanks in advance...

Weird. Have you tried updating firmware on both ends to see what happens? I heard that cisco (linksys) had some off issues with VPN's.

Might also want to make sure the DSL connection is set to bridged mode, otherwise it's another NAT you have to pass through.

Hope this helps some.

Well, firmware is up-to-date on both ends, but the connection from the client is cable. Or, are you talking about the Internet connection on the remote end?
