A customer wants me to set up a VPN between his home (Win XP)and office (W2K small Business Server), snag is I've never done this before. Both systems are on ADSL broadband, the home system using an ethernet modem and the office an Intellinet Broadband Modem/Router (epicrouter?). Security is not a major issue so I will probably use PPTP for ease. Can anyone talk me through the procedure or point me at a good online article so that if I fail I can at least blag my way out.
Many thanks, John

Go buy the LinkSys BEFVP-41 Router/VPN... read the directions... and bam... your golden.

It is not too hard to set up a VPN with the right tools... and the VP-41 comes with everything you need.

VPN is a virtual tunnel that is created with a VPN Concentrator (handles incoming and outgoing VPN transmissions) and a VPN client on the other side (built into windows or software driven).

Once everything is set up correctly, you just give the client VPN software the IP it needs to establish a connection and BAM it is done... secure connection tunnel with IPSec security.

Good Luck!
Chance~
