VPN Very Very Slow

Hi all,

we have recently got a VPN installed.
It is using Checkpoint SecureClient on the PC (P4,4.3Ghz, 1Gig Ram).
The Checkpoint firewall is on a Nokia IP260.
The VPN is run over a 2Mb DSL link (2Mb Up, 2Mb Down).

When I copy a 10Mb folder through Windows Explorer it takes over 5 minutes to come down where as an ftp of a 10Mb file takes 5 secs.

that's because you are doing it via VPN which carries a LOT of overhead. This is typical, as VPN is not intended for large file transfers, but for secure connections.
