The setup is as follows:

All sites are connected to main location via IPSEC VPN. (3DES, SHA, Preshared)

1 main location. Hosts 3 heavily used Citrix applications. Has 1 MB T-1 internet connection.

6 remote locations. Access citrix server at main location. Each has 6MB Down/512 KB Upstream DSL.

Goal: We would like to increase speed of VPN acccess.

Proposed soultion: Transition away from 1.544 T1, to 6MB down/ 512 up ADSL. Cheaper monthly cost, and faster download speeds.

Concerns: A T-1 has symmetrical up/down speeds. ADSL has slower upstream. Should this be a concern since we heavily rely on Citrix for 3 applications (word, excel, healthcare app)? Thank you for your time.

Sorry...should restate my goal

Goal: Faster Citrix application access; response time.

Your best option would be the T-1 and increase speed there, you will need the speed both ways. I know the DSL is cheaper in the long run but a T-1 is more reliable. What you might want is a router that can do QoS.
