Is there a maximum number of users who can simultaneously VPN into our Windows 2000 Server ?

My IT company said there isn't, but I can't think of anything else to explain what happened today.

Usually we would only have 1-3 users doing this at a time, but today there were 7 and the last one to attempt to connect was told that the VPN was unavailable. She called another colleague was was VPN'd in and she agreed to disconnect for a while. As soon as she did this, she was able to connect.

Our modem router is a Draytek 2500.

If there is a maximum, is it fixed in the modem/Windows ? or can I up this to avoid this situation from happening again ?

I do hope you can help me.

Regards,
Jay

What are they "VPNing" to? if its the router it may be a license limit issue on the router. if your usin RRAS to the 2k server it might be a limited scope of dhcp address for the RRAS service. hard to tell as you didnt elaberate much.

The VPN is coming through the router but the user access is controlled by Windows 2000 Routing and Remote Access Service. I found the control panel for RRAS and it appears to show 10 sessions available, 3 of which were active at the time.

I know exactly who else could have have been online at the time and there's no way there was anyway near 10.

Any further thoughts ?

Regards,
Jay
