Have setup Cisco 837 Router and a remote VPN client. I can connect the VPN client successfully to the router and ping the external NIC on the server and the router by IP address but cannot ping internal NIC or server name.

I need to browse files and get access to exchange on the server. Client is Win XP Pro.

Server is SBS 2000 (including ISA) with 2 nics. Router IP 10.1.1.1, external nic 10.10.10.11, internal nic 172.16.0.1.

IP address allocated by the router to the VPN network connection is 2.2.2.7 (subnet 255.0.0.0). I cannot change this IP address but don't know if this is my problem.

Any ideas?

Could you post the config? why cant you change the ip addresses allocated for the VPN connection? That could be part of your problem You should really use private addressing (10/8, 172.16/20) and 192.168/16) addresses for your lan type connections.

It looks like your VPN endpoint, the router, is outside the ISA firewall (on the SBS server).

I would use the SBS server as the VPN endpoint. Configure the router to passthrough VPN traffic.

This way your remote users will be able to:
Authenticate using AD
Browse the internal network
etc.

Hy!

I configered a IP Filter on the ISA Server to allow all Port on TCP and UPD to the destination of the VPN IPAdress.
It work fine for me!
