I have a VPN set up into a Win2k Server box at work, and when it connects it will work fine, (I've left it connected for 5 days before with no prob). But it doesn't always connect the first few times. It will sit at "verifying username and password" usually 3 or 4 times until it times out each time. Then on the fourth or fifth attempt it will connect real fast, and everything will be fine. Any reason it wouldn't be connecting the first time every time? It's on a T1 line and I have cable at home.

Sounds like you are trying to specify an IP address on the client side. W2K generally doesn't like this. Change your client to obtain IP automatically and try again.

The vpn clients are all set to recieve their ip addresses from the vpn server, using a static range. I just changed it so the requests all go to our regular DHCP server to obtain their ip address, and it's still doing the same thing.
One strange thing I just noticed is that the vpn client will get an address from our normal DHCP server ( in 192.168.1.x) but that the subnet mask on the vpn client is 255.255.255.255 instead of 255.255.255.0 like it is here at work. Any idea where it's getting the different subnet mask? Could that be the problem?
