Our company is trying to allow some employees to access and share the files on the companys win 2000 server. The server is running on a 768K fractional T1.

We are trying to run ACT and Quckbooks for remote users. However these programs run very slowly via vpn.

It there some lower level of encription, or something, that will allow them to run faster, or must we just upgrade our T1 to a full 1.5mb

Thanks
Joe

The problem may be more to do with the fact that these two applications use a shared database file, which means that your clients may have to pull a copy of the database down to their machine to make changes (this is certainly how access works).

Rather than splash out on more bandwidth, you should look into the possibility of implementing Terminal Services or using a remote control tool like PC Anywhere or Timbuktu. Terminal Services with Metaframe would be the more elegant solution and you would have ample bandwidth already (depending on the number of remote users, maybe even too much)
