Does anyone know of any good vpn software that will both install and run off of a USB drive? At our corporate office, we have a cisco 3000 vpn concentrator and usually use cisco vpn clients using IPsec on all remote laptops/pc's. It would be nice to not have to install the cisco client everywhere I go to remote to work (and some public places lock down program installation privileges, so running off of USB would be a good workaround for that as well. I've done some research, and it appears almost all VPN clients have to install some configuration settings (virtual adapter, registry keys, ipsec settings, etc) on the local PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated (especially if it's freeware!).

Thanks,

CH

Have you tried installing to a USB drive, like Cisco VPN client? It is free (or at least it used to be). I have not tried this, but I will and I'll let you know. However, if the USB gets assigned different drive letters, you may have problems...

Most clients (such as Cisco VPN client) install a Virtual adapter on your local PC and make registry changes. I haven't tried it yet, because I'm trying to find one that doesn't install anything on the local PC. For example, if I need to use a PC in a library or coffee shop, i don't won't my company's VPN client installed (or any of it's components) on a public PC. I'll test cisco and a few other's out to see, but I think most install stuff on the local PC.
