Have just install two Netgear device, both work great. One is a firewall with VPN installed within it.

Does any one know of free OS 8.5 and above VPN client software? I know that it is free on OS X but not everyone is running OS X.

Many Thanks

If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

What is VPN client software? What VPN client software is included in OSX? The idea behind VPN is that you do not need any special tricks on the client computers.

The router should be doing all the work, not the client computers.

Ok, maybe I miss understand VPN then. I have the new Netgear VPN router on a DSL connection to the internet. I need to connect to that router from another mac that is on the internet, but in another location they don't have a router how would I go about it?

there are routers that do VPN (IPsec) passthrough, and routers that do all the VPN logic themselves, with the first kind there needs to be VPN software, with the second there does not.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

As far as I know the router I have does VPN passthrough, which comes back to the question is there any free software for the macs (8.5 to 9.2.2)?

Cheers guys
