I am trying to use the remote connectivity in SBS 2003 but can't get the VPN to function from a remote pc. However, I have no problem when I use a computer connected via an access point using the same accounts.

I don't know where to start looking but the error on the client computer is error code 800. I have tried opening ports 1723 and 47 in TCP on the firewall but that doesn't make any difference.

Any idea's what could be blocking things??

Make sure your routers on both ends allow 'ip protocol 47' or 'gre'. This can normally be done by turning on 'vpn passthrough' If you have a UPnP router on the end with the SBS server, turn on UPnP then run the ' Setup remote access & email' wizard on the SBS. This will properly configure your router on that end.

if that doesn't help, check out this KB article -
